Instructions for Publishing Your Own Posts on Nerdivore.com

NOTE: The diary tool on Nerdivore is for users to post longer posts/articles. For shorter stuff, like single links or brief tidbits of interest, use the Quick Hits.

1. Register a Nerdivore.com username at this link, or by clicking "Make New Account" under "User Menu" in the right-hand column.

2. Get your username's login password from your email (the registration process sends it to your email address), and then login to your Nerdivore.com account by going to Nerdivore.com and entering your username and password under "User Menu" in the right-hand column.

3. After you login, you'll notice that the links under "User Menu" have changed. Click "New Diary."

4. Write your headline, keywords (ie. words/topics/phrases that search engines will use to find your post), and post. The part of the post that is put under "Main Text" will appear on top, the part that you put in "Extended Text" will appear after what you put in the Main Text, with a link to "extended entry." You can use HTML to add hypertext links, styles (boldface, italics, blockquotes, etc.), and embedded photos/YouTube videos.

5. At the bottom, select a diary topic from the drop down menu, if one is applicable. Also, click the "Public" button, assuming you want the blog post to be public (and not just a draft that you will come back and work on later).

6. Press the "Preview" button to see a preview of your post, and then, after you look at the preview and are satisfied, press the "Save" button. Your blog post is now published, and will be listed on the front of Nerdivore.com under "Recent User Diaries," with its own unique URL that you can email to friends.

7. Remember, you can click on your own post and edit or delete it at any time. You can also engage with commenters in the comments section.

Instructions for Publishing Quick Hits on Nerdivore.com

NOTE: The Quick Hits section to post their own very short news, notes and links to the front page of Nerdivore. They are designed for short tidbits. For longer content, use the diaries.

1. Register a username and login to your Nerdivore account, as described in steps 1 and 2 above.

2. On the Quick Hits menu on the top right of the front page of Nerdivore.com, click "view all recent," which will take you here.

3. At the top of the Quick Hits page, click "add quick hit" (which will take you here).

4. Write your Quick Hit, hit the preview button to edit it, and then press "save" to publish it to the front page of Nerdivore.com. Remember, you can use HTML to add hypertext links, styles (boldface, italics, blockquotes, etc.), and embedded photos/YouTube videos.
